So this time, Team Degon wanted to learn and get some experience in basic woodworking techniques. But spending a ton of money on raw materials is not the way they work. So they waited eagerly for the perfect chance and opportunity to build something out of wood. And BAM !!!, they got hold of some old wooden closets from on their crew member's home renovation.

Now they wanted the desk to look apart from others. It must have everything built into it, making it into a single unit. Speakers, Wifi router, Monitor and even the PC itself must be the part of the desk and add some personality to it. The first problem they faced was that they lacked woodworking tools. So they rented out a circular saw and some basic tools from a local furniture shop for a day. This meant, they only had a day to complete all the cuts and if they were screw up the cuts they would lose the material and the project gets shut down so no pressure.

After 10 hours of labour and some precision working, they were left with all the pieces ready to be assembled. Now they had to cut out holes for the speakers and fans but how? Ask any person who has used a circular saw and they will tell you that they are made for straight cuts only. So what they did was, they drilled holes around the perimeter of the area that they wanted to remove and knocked it out.

If you have read about their last project, you know that the same PC case is being used here and the heating issues were well addressed. So they used the same technique to solve the problem but the fans were attached to the desk itself rather than the case.

So now everything was set, they started to assemble the pieces together butt joining them together and adding wood glue at each joint for the extra strength. Almost forgot, the desk had integrated elbow rests for those long gaming sessions. The monitor and speakers were strategically placed so that the user can get a surround experience. The best part of the entire project they loved was the placement of the Wifi router. Like icing on a cake, the antennas of the router protruded from the top acting as a crown for the desk, giving it a throne-like personality.

So it was finally completed their first wood-based project. Under a strict budget of Rs 2.3k, We think they nailed it.
