Ahh, Motorcycle helmets. Designed and invented in 1914 after a medical officer, Dr. Eric Gardner, noticed he was seeing a motor cyclist with head injuries about every 2 weeks. Made mandatory ever since it been saving countless lives.

A helmet may mean very little to an average person but when it comes to a motorcyclist, it's his crown, his mask or rather his identity. And when he or she is isn't riding, their crown needs a suitable resting place.

And this was exactly the perspective when one of the team members got a new ride and a beautiful helmet to pair with it, he insisted the next project be a Helmet stand.

The entire design was inspired by a motorcycle enthusiast and one of our favourite YouTubers "Chaos Causes". Everything used for the build is recycled and it literally cost us zero.

We first did a rough CAD design of what we wanted. The CAD also helped us in determining the final looks of the product. Our got to software is Solidworks. We planned to have the inclined plane at an angle of 60 degrees.

With the design finalized, they began the manufacturing. They got some marine treated plywood from the trash which literally is all that was needed. A circular saw and some wood adhesive made their job easier.

With a two to three coat of primer, it was sanded and ready for some paint. Obviously, it was black paint, to go well with the helmet. Exposing the white primer along the edge gave the stand matching aesthetics as that of the helmet.

Still, the Team knew that something was missing from this project. A project undertaken by Degon must stand out and scream passion. So after thinking more, the team got their hands on a used piston head and broken ring spanner. Made a beautiful holder for the helmet perfectly symbolising the bond between a motorcyclist and a mechanic.

Installing the holder to the stand, their project was complete. A quick but quite usefully and passionate project for each and every motorcycle rider out there...
